Casa Nica is Guacalito de la Isla’s cultural and eco-center, and home to our Resident Naturalist.
Casa Nica features a docket of family endeavors to increase awareness of the immediate environment and local ecosystems through interactive displays and educative wildlife exhibits.
Mammal tracking, zip-line canopy tours, and birdwatching safaris introduce residents to their neighboring wildlife. Traditional Nicaraguan arts, such as carving gourds and weaving bamboo into baskets, help residents become one with Nicaraguan culture.
Casa Nica is also the place to join in on a guided, off-site journeys to Mombacho Volcano, the artist’s village of Solentiname and San Juan de Oriente to observe Nicaraguan ceramists hard at work. For our adult residents, cooking classes will be offered through Casa Nica featuring lessons on preparing traditional Nicaraguan cuisine.
